Speeding Mercedes kills four, injures two in Dehradun hit-and-run case

A speeding Mercedes fatally hit four labourers and injured two others on Mussoorie Road in Dehradun on Wednesday night before the driver fled.

The car also struck a scooter before being abandoned in an empty plot.

Dehradun police said the Chandigarh-registered vehicle was being driven “recklessly and at high speed.” Initial investigations indicate it was purchased from Delhi. A police team has been sent to the capital for further inquiries, while another is in Chandigarh to trace the owner.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh said they received information about the incident at around 8:15 pm.

“Based on CCTV footage, we identified 11 vehicles that passed through the stretch and set up inspections at checkpoints to prevent the vehicle from leaving the city,” he said.
